Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) extends the tenures of its Bursar and Librarian for an extra year. See details on the decision and reasons below.
The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) Governing Council has extended the tenures of two key university officials.
During its 6th Extraordinary Meeting, the Council granted a one-year extension to the Bursar, Dr Daniel Anjola Wilson, and the University Librarian, Professor Abiodun Olaide Iyoro.
This decision aligns with Section 5, Subsection 5 of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provision) (Amendment) Act, 2012.
This provision allows the Council to extend the tenure of certain officers to support stability and strategic goals.
Reasons for Extending the Bursar’s Tenure
The Council highlighted the need for continuity in financial and administrative operations at FULafia.
It considered the ongoing automation and digitisation projects within the bursary.
The extension allows the new Governing Council to become familiar with FULafia’s financial processes and strategies.
According to the Registrar, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, Wilson has shown strong leadership in FULafia’s financial administration.
The statement also noted Wilson’s efforts to strengthen operations and ensure fiscal responsibility.
With this extension, the Bursar’s term will now end on 4 May 2026, instead of the initial date of 5 May 2025.
Reasons for Extending the Librarian’s Tenure
The Council also extended Professor Iyoro’s tenure, focusing on continuity in academic administration.
The Council cited the completion of major projects, such as the e–resource library for faculties, as a priority.
The extension allows Professor Iyoro to mentor the incoming librarian and ensure a smooth transition.
The statement praised Iyoro’s leadership in securing full accreditation for 98% of FULafia’s programmes.
It noted his role in establishing e-libraries for various faculties.
Professor Iyoro’s term will now end on 1 July 2026, a year later than the original end date of 2 July 2025.
These extensions ensure steady progress in FULafia’s financial and academic administration.
