What Type of Subject Combinations are there in Nigeria?

JAMB Recommended Textbooks for Science Students

There are two types of subject combinations in ;

The JAMB Subject Combination

The  subject combination is a list of four (4) subjects you will have to take in JAMB, depending on the course you want to study.

For example, the JAMB subject combination for Chemical Engineering is, you'll have to combine the following subjects:

  • Use of English
  • Mathematics
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

The O'level (WAEC & NECO) Subject Combination.

The O'level subject combination, on the other hand, is a list of subjects you must have a credit pass in either your WAEC or  result to study a particular course in a higher institution.

For example, the entry requirement into the University, Polytechnic, or College of Education is a minimum of five (5) credits in the relevant subjects. The subjects must include English Language and other four (4) subjects.

Let's take Engineering, for example, the O'level subject combination list includes;

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Biology/Statistics/Geography
