What are the Methods of Checking JAMB Admission Status?

There are two primary methods to check your admission status in and they are;

  • JAMB Central Processing System (CAPS)
  • JAMB Admission Letter Printing

Both of the methods mentioned above require either a  number or an SMS from a line linked to JAMB.

What is JAMB CAPS?

JAMB CAPS stands for the Joint Admission Matriculation Board Central Admission Processing System. It is an online database that manages all the admission processing of students in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

The JAMB CAPS helps the government to ensure that the admission processes in tertiary institutions are transparent. The CAPS certifies only qualified candidates get admission.

With the JAMB CAPS, you can easily accept your admission by your school of choice.

Note that the main requirement here is to meet the school cut-off mark and also upload your O'level result with the correct subject combination.

  • Email address
  • Mobile internet connection
  • Smartphone or Personal Computer (PC)
  • Payment for JAMB admission letter

Here is the step-by-step guide on how to check your JAMB admission status on the JAMB CAPS portal. Just follow the guide below and you'll be done in no time.

Step 1. Visit the JAMB facility portal: Enter https://jamb.gov.ng/Efacility as the web address on your browser and open the website.

Enter your JAMB email address and password to log in to your JAMB dashboard.

Step 2. Select your JAMB examination year: Click on the dropdown menu to select your JAMB examination year.

Step 3. Click on Check Admission Status: Select the bar that says ‘check admission status‘ to proceed to the next step.

Step 4. Click on Access my CAPS.

NOTE: If you are doing this with your mobile phone, then you need to click on the right menu bar of your browser to request the Desktop site. This will enable you to view the result well.

Step 5. Click on Admission Status.

How to Check JAMB Admission Status with Phone (via Text Message)

You easily can check your JAMB admission status on your phone by using the SMS method. This process normally costs about fifty (₦50).

Here is the simple procedure on how to check admission status via text message on your phone. All you need to do is follow the instructions below;

  1. Open the SMS app on your phone
  2. Type 55019 or 66019 as the SMS recipient
  3. Enter Status + Exam year as your message. Example STATUS 2024
  4. Click on the Send SMS button
  5. You will receive your admission status via SMS.

Now, sure that you send this text with the same phone number you used while registering for JAMB.

The JAMB admission status can be either of the following; Not Admitted, Admission in Process, Accept or Reject Admission, Transfer of Admission. If yours is ‘Accept or Reject Admission‘ then you'll need to login to your JAMB portal and accept your admission.
