Google Europe Scholarship

The : 's education and initiatives are designed to inspire and assist students in becoming future leaders in computing and technology by removing obstacles to entry.

Google has teamed up with EmployAbility, a nonprofit organization that aids students with disabilities as they pursue education and potential professions, to assist university students with disabilities in achieving their academic goals in computer science.

For the academic year 2024-2025, selected students will receive a 7,000 EUR (or local equivalent) prize.

Google's passion is knowledge access. Google doesn't want anything to get in the way of promising scholars from getting a better education.

As a result, Google announced the Google Europe Scholarship for Students with Disabilities, in collaboration with EmployAbility.

Google is dedicated to assisting future innovators in making the most of their potential by offering to Computer Science students with disabilities.

The Google Europe Grant for Students with Disabilities will award each recipient a €7,000 scholarship for the academic year 2024-2025.

Scholarships will be given based on the applicant's academic background, leadership abilities, and demonstrated interest in Computer Science.

Who can apply for this Scholarship?

Applicants must meet the following requirements in order to be considered:

  • Have a visible or invisible disability
  • Be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at a university for the academic year 2023-2024
  • Intend to enroll or be accepted as a student in a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD program at an accredited university in Europe or Israel for the academic year 2024-2025
  • Be pursuing a degree in computer science, computer engineering, informatics, or a closely related technical field
  • Showcase a strong academic record
  • Exhibit leadership qualities and a strong interest in computer science and technology

Application process

Applicants will be asked to complete an online application through EmployAbility which includes:

  • Background information in general (.g. contact information and details about your current and intended universities)
  • Resume/CV
  • Transcripts from your current and previous institutions (if you have earned a prior degree)
  • One recommendation letter from a professor, instructor, adviser, or supervisor
  • Answers to a series of questions about your interest in and aptitude for computer science.
  • Recipients will be chosen based on the overall strength of their essays and application materials in comparison to the applicant pool as a whole or their respective peers (e.g. Bachelors students compared to other Bachelors students).
  • Ensure that your chosen referees are aware of your application and are prepared to provide you with a reference.

Recipients will be selected based on the overall strength of their essays and application materials compared to the entire applicant pool.

More Info on the Google Europe Students with Disabilities Scholarship

As part of the application, you will be asked questions about your interest in computer science, a technical project/research assignment in which you were involved, and a time when you demonstrated leadership.

It is strongly advised that you use as many words as possible for each question and try to utilize specific instances that are supported by evidence.

Please keep in mind that the word limit relates to the text entered into the online application form, which may differ from the word count of other word processors such as Microsoft Word.

You may include additional material to support your points in your replies to the technical project/research question, such as graphs, diagrams, algorithms, pieces of code, and so on, but these must be kept in other files that you will upload along with your CV/resume.

If you want to incorporate such supporting evidence, please reference it in your essay with the file name included in square brackets.
