Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson put their differences aside for the sake of their kids.
The estranged couple were photographed reuniting for some family time with their three children and Johnson’s parents in Carlsbad, Calif., on March 31.
Eyewitnesses told TMZ on Monday that Simpson, 44, and the former NFL player, 45, kept their distance — and the “Dukes of Hazzard” star didn’t try to conceal her discomfort.
Simpson failed to crack a smile in any of the pictures, appearing stone-faced while the group strolled the streets.
However, their kids — daughter Maxwell, 12, son Ace, 11, and daughter Birdie, 6 — seemed to be in great spirits as they stood in between their parents, according to the eyewitnesses.
The “I Wanna Love You Forever” singer first sparked split rumors with Johnson in November 2024 after posting a cryptic message about her return to music.
“This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve,” she wrote at the time.
Days later, an insider told Page Six exclusively that there also had been breakup rumors spreading among parents at the exclusive Los Angeles school their kids attend.
The source told us that Simpson and Johnson had stopped attending school events together.
“In years past, Jess always attended events at the school either solo or with Eric,” the insider shared. “Never Eric alone. But recently it’s just been Eric.
“As you can imagine, there’s been a lot of gossip among the parents.”
The couple added fuel to the fire when they were both seen without their wedding rings in the weeks that followed.
However, Simpson notably had not been wearing her ring in her social media posts since January 2024.
She finally announced their separation this January after 10 years of marriage.
“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” the “With You” singer said in a statement.
“Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
At the time, an insider told Page Six exclusively that Simpson and Johnson had been dealing with “trust issues” for a while.
“They were no longer on the same page, and it drove a wedge between them,” the source told us.
The exes listed their $18 million marital home that same month, indicating that they were moving full steam ahead with the split.
We heard the two decided to live separately last year “as a trial of sorts” before officially calling it quits.
“Jess thought it would help if they spent some time apart,” our source shared, “but it only made her realize she enjoyed her independence.”
However, Simpson told People that the ex-athlete is “still very much a part of [her] life” in February.
“[He] will always be,” she added.
