A Nigerian lady expresses frustration after a recipient, to whom she mistakenly made a transfer of ₦55,200, demanded a share before returning the money.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), she recounted how she accidentally sent the money to the wrong account and repeatedly called the recipient.
After several attempts, she finally reached the woman, only to be told that a certain percentage must be given before the funds would be refunded.
Sharing her experience, she wrote: “I sent ₦55,200 to the wrong account (OPay). I had never met her before. When I called, she asked how much I would give her from it. Nigerians! What she did was wrong.”
“it’s not normal behavior. 🙏🤣 I ended up giving her ₦5,200. The money had been with her since Saturday, and I was only able to collect it back on Tuesday.”
As the post gained attention online, many people flooded the comments section to share their thoughts on the incident.

@kinnsokoye: “I’m sure you used to pray for miracle money, so that’s her miracle money you are supposed to leave it with her.”
@Damola_nt_DML: “It’s in her right not to return the money to you lmao, take it to court if you want.”
@tunde_naija: “Just tell her to take the 5K on top, that will save you from reporting any dispute that will warrant you getting court order before reversal”
@barbara_opara: “Can’t you freeze the money from your end?”
@Kckingson: “She did nothing wrong by asking how much you will give her. For the fact that she picked and acknowledged the money is with her means she wants to return it. You’re the one that has a problem because your money is almost gone but you’re ungrateful to the person that found it.”
@enyola: “There’s a function for recalling your transfer if you made a mistake on the app, you don’t need to call the person, just request a reversal as long as the intended account is similar to the mistaken one.”
