Super Eagles forward Moses Simon found the back of the net for FC Nantes, but his effort was not enough as they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Le Havre.
The Ligue 1 clash on Sunday marked Simon’s first game for the side after international duty with Nigeria‘s Super Eagles.
He scored in the 49th minute to bring Nantes level at 2-2. He latched onto a well-timed pass from Matthis Abline and finished calmly past the goalkeeper.
However, Nantes’ hopes of securing a point were dashed in the 89th minute when Timothee Pembele capitalized on a rebound to seal victory for Le Havre.
The match was an intense contest, with both teams showing attacking intent. Nantes had earlier equalized through Saidou Sow, but Le Havre regained the lead via an Abdoulaye Toure penalty in the first half.
Despite Simon’s effort, Nantes remain struggling for consistency and will now shift focus to improving their league position in the coming weeks.
