The University of Abuja, UNIABUJA Management laid the foundation stones for the construction of three projects for the University.
The projects include the construction of the Deanery of the Faculty of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences at the University Teaching Hospital, UATH, Gwagwalada, and Phase 1 of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies on the Main campus.
The foundation stone was also laid for the Academic Processing Centre building on the Main campus.
While the two faculties are funded through the 2023/2024 Annual intervention of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund ), the Academic Centre is funded through the TETFund Zonal intervention.
Director of the UofA Physical Development Department, Mr Ezekiel Ripiye, commended TETFund for sponsoring the projects, while also lauding the acting vice-chancellor for pushing for timely release of the funds for the projects.
The acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi, pleaded with the contractors to complete the projects in record time to enable the faculties to move from the borrowed space they currently occupy.
She said, “It gives me great pleasure to be here to lay the foundation of the building of some of our important courses at the University of Abuja. The importance of these courses cannot be overstated, so I plead with you, dear contractors, to complete work in record time to enable these faculties to move from the borrowed spaces into their own structures”.
